I Live For...

I live for eccentric stores that sell things like notebooks with Audrey Hepburn quotes and ten types of gourmet lollipops.

I live for the feeling of when you just can't put a good book down.

I live for waking up early and realizing it's Saturday.

I live for eating cookie dough, no matter what anybody says about it.

I live for watching football games with a team I actually care about.

I live for laughing until my stomach hurts and I can't breathe.

I live for Bath and Body Works perfume, and I always have to check if they're having a sale.

I live for candles that smell like Christmas.

I live for when a Taylor Swift song comes on the radio at at the mall or the restaurant and I know all the words.

I live for going shopping and imagining all the fun things that you might be able to buy.

I live for when all my friends are together, and they're all having fun.

I live for watching terrible Christmas-themed romantic comedies and laughing and sighing and rolling your eyes through the entire thing. Actually, I live for a lot of Christmas-themed things.

I live for when I do my makeup and I actually look nice. Call me vain, but it's fun.

I live for walking into bookstores.

I live for the feeling after a really hard band practice where I know I did well.

I live for good hair days.

I live for smiling at waitresses and checkout line people.

I live for finding the perfect lockscreen for my phone.

I live for those perfect black ink pens. You know the ones I'm talking about.

I live for finding that one thing that's been missing for ages.

I live for people that I've been thinking about texting me.

I live for buying new lip gloss.

I live for when people are nice to me.

I live for getting a better grade than you thought you would on something.

I live for generally glittery or sparkly things.

I live for McDonald's french fries and hot fudge sundaes.

I live for the feeling of getting to the airport when you're about to go on a trip.

I live for those delicious Oreo cake balls.

I live for graphic tees with funny sayings on them.

I live for a lot of things.

What do you live for?

Not Princess Leia

So, as I'm sure you've probably noticed, the blog has a new name.
If I'm being completely honest, I always kind of disliked the old name. I just felt like it was too long and it didn't make sense. Yesterday I finally decided it was time for a change.

This new name has got a story behind it. Every year on the first day of school, (and I'm not even lying about this) at least half of my teachers call me Leia. HALF. I feel like it's pretty obvious that my name is pronounced LEah, but apparently not. Anyway, that is always followed by remarks such as "Leia? Like the chick from Star Wars?"

No, not like the chick from Star Wars! Not Princess Leia!

I then have to tell my classmates this and then they're all disappointed because my name isn't nearly as cool as they thought it was.

It's really sad.

So, what do you think? I need opinions, people. If you hate it please let me know now so I won't be too embarassed for changing the entire name and look and everything and I can promptly change it back.

Have a marvelous day, peoples.

Eat some pizza for me.

summer jams 2015

IT'S NOT ALL TAYLOR SWIFT.

So, music is kind of important to me. I am currently killing myself for marching band, and whenever a teacher says we can listen to music, I'm the first one with earbuds in. This summer I branched out to some new artists and genres that I hadn't listened to before, and I decided I had to tell you guys about them.

#1 Ex's & Oh's- Elle King
DUDE.
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MAKES ME LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
I CAN'T RELATE TO IT AT ALL.
IT'S AMAZING THOUGH

#2 Primadonna- Marina and The Diamonds
Gives me life, I tell you.
Brilliant lyrics, brilliant beat.
Also it's really fun to sing along with in the mirror.

#3 Shut Up and Dance - Walk The Moon
Be quiet. It's a fun song, okay?

#4 Long Live- Taylor Swift
I LOVE THIS I LOVE IT I LOVE IT
IT'S PERFECT
JUST. PERFECT.

#5 Word Crimes- Weird Al Yankovic
If you are constantly annoyed by people's grammar, then you need to watch this.
You will be significantly amused.

#6- Uma Thurman- Fall Out Boy
Why am I just now getting into this song?
Who knows?
What is this song actually about?
Who knows?

I could go on, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to listen to twenty-seven more songs.
If you happen to want to heat those twenty-seven songs, PM on Google+ or something

GOODBYE MY LOVELY FRIENDS
AND HAPPY WEEKEND!

a letter to my younger self

Dear Leah,

First off, your hair is awful. Not gonna sugarcoat it.
It's kind of terrible.
You have not learned that your hair is too thick to be as short as it is.
Just...no.
Grow it all out.
For the sake of me looking at those pictures in a few years, grow it out.

Secondly, you're not a fashionista. I know you have big dreams of how a fashion designer in disguise will stumble across your designs when considering buying your house and offer to move you to paris to become his apprentice, but no.
Sadly that never happens, and your sketches were not that great.
(except for a couple. i would wear some of those, actually.)
But please consider other career options.

Don't be afraid to be confident. Right now you're so scared of people judging you, and you have to hide behind a plastic personality. But it's okay to love Taylor Swift and Broadway musicals. It's okay that you like to read. It's okay that you actually enjoy art class.
It okay to love whatever you want to.
Also, those "popular" girls you're absolutely terrified of? You'll never see any of them again. So just do whatever you want, because honestly, life is so much better when you like who you are.

Yes, it seems like none of your friends actually like you right now. But that's just not true. You're going to meet your best friend this summer, and it's all going to be okay. And the friends you supposedly hate you? You're going to get a lot closer to them, and they're actually kind of amazing people. Friends are so great, and again, you're just so scared that no one will like you that you just don't try.

Okay.
BOYS.
Yep, you think they're stupid now. And honestly, where you at, they are. But you either keep trying to impress every boy that crosses your path, or run away from them, terrified.
NOPE.
Boys make some of the best friends ever. They will bring their Percy Jackson books to school for you to read. They will practice your band music with you. They will sometimes buy you cookies in the cafeteria.
And yep, some of them get really cute too.
So...just consider boys, okay? They get a lot better.

One last thing real quick.
QUIT TRYING TOO HARD.
You're not going to be the most popular person in school, probably. You won't be the vision of perfection that you want to happen so badly. Trust me, you'll be way happier with yourself.

Way happier.

Love, Your Future Self
